Instructors

Michael Cahn

Michael grew up in Santa Fe listening to the Latin rhythms of his father’s flamenco troupe. During Spanish language studies in Cuzco, Peru, he discovered salsa dance, and when he returned to the U.S. he joined every salsa class he could find. Desiring a deeper understanding of the dance, Michael traveled to Havana Cuba to study with Yaykel Parez. He studied for the next several years, traveling to Ecuador, Mexico and all over the USA and has trained and performed with world champions, Omar Muños, Johnny Vazquez, and trained with Jonathan Ibarra, Jhon Narvarez, Adrian and Anita, Alien Ramerez and many others. He has performed and competed throughout the Northwest. He and his dance partner Dana Sindona finished in the top 5 at the 2011 and 2012 Gemini Salsa championships, and he has won multiple Jack and Jill contests in Seattle. In March of 2012,13,14,15 and 16 Michael trained and competed in the Seattle Dances benefit. Winning a mirrorball trophy in 2014 and 2016. Michael opened Sueños de Salsa in 2012 and expanded the studio in 2021 to our current  location.

Kelly

Kelly is a dance instructor, choreographer, performer, and DJ. Originally from Portland OR, she first discovered her love of Latin dance at Satin & Latin Dance Studio, where she studied and then taught Cuban salsa at the age of 16. She went on to train and teach ballroom at Arthur Murray, then returned to Salsa and Bachata when she moved to Seattle in 2019, where she quickly found herself at home here at Sueños.
 
As an instructor, Kelly is patient, fun, and passionate about her students’ progress. She loves nothing more than sharing her love of dance with others and helping them grow.

Mojan Ahmadi

Mojan joined the studio as a student in 2017, and has continued dancing Salsa and Bachata ever since. As a former Zumba instructor, she loves adding in styling and spice when dancing. She primarily teaches beginners and intermediate level dancers to cover fundamentals as well as styling and footwork. Performance credits: – Salsa New Year 2018 – New Orleans Salsa and Bachata Festival 2019 – NW Folklife Festival – Numerous socials in the Seattle & Portland area.

Becca Jakubson

Becca (she/her) is a teacher, artist, performer, and choreographer based in Seattle, WA. She has over 20 years of experience coaching, teaching, performing, and competing in dance and figure skating.
Her experience includes teaching salsa, bachata, cha cha, fusion, and fitness classes in Seattle for over 6 years. She spent 3 years as a teacher at Studio Azul. She was also a member of Sabrosa Pro, a professional latin fusion dance team that performed across the west coast. Currently, she is a founder of BGC Dance, a latin fusion dance community, and is a co-founder of B3 Dance Project, a latin fusion dance troupe based in Seattle.

Ed

Ed comes to Sueños de Salsa with 9 years experience as a dance instructor, educator and community leader. He learned partner dance while at USC and quickly fell into the LA salsa scene where he performed on several teams and taught regularly at universities and club openings.

After earning is Master’s in Education, Ed led a comprehensive Ballroom Dance program at Dorsey High where he launched and directed the dance mentorship organization Take the Lead.

Ed has competed, performed and taught in LA, Mexico and Ecuador, where he lived for five years and danced with Mambuco Dance Corp. Ed is a social dancer at heart and loves to help others build community and confidence through dance. He emphasizes timing, connection, footwork and developing your own style in his classes.
